Playing the magnetic tape on an analog playback machine
The Process begins with playing the analog format on a carrier (video or audio). The conversion process is not automatically processed and the tapes (video and audio) are converted in real time. The conversion technician watches listens and controls the information throughout the conversion process.
In addition, Gal Kol has developed special control systems for maintaining the quality and loyalty to the original copy. The control system stabilizes the footage and audio signal and can make corrections so no information is lost during the digitization.
handling exceptions and irregularities
Old analog audio magnetic tapes (video and audio) tend to develop an issue with decomposition of the emulsion. This prevents normal, smooth playback activity of the tape on the playback heads, and it may cause irreversible damage to the archival material and consequently a damaged result. We maintain a special laboratory that has acquired the requisite knowledge over the years for treatment of damaged magnetic and video tapes which cannot be played on conventional machines. The tapes are treated in three different fields: thermal, chemical, and mechanical.

Converting from analog to digital format and creating the Meta database
The next stage will be converting the tapes from analog to digital format with the use of advanced computer systems. The type of the system is determined according to the customer's needs. The converter is the most important component in the conversion process. Thus, we maintain the world's most advanced conversion equipment. The conversion processes creates computer files such as WAV, AVI, MPEG-2 or MP3. We can also save the data on DVD or CD. Right after the conversion processes the files are saved on our servers and we are ready to create the Meta data base.
What is Meta data? The Meta data is the information that specifies the content of the analog formats; videos or audio. Take for example a paper sheet that is attached to a video tape and contains a list of tracks or content – the information on the paper is the Meta data.
What is a Metadata Search Engine (file management system)? Also referred to as simply a file system. The system that uses to organize and keep track of files. For example, a hierarchical file system is one that uses directories to organize files into a tree structure. The system allows categorization and location of the converted files. With this system you may search converted files, view the information about them (date, artist, rightsholder) and play them.
What is Meta database? The creation of data tables for the use of the Metadata Search Engine. We input all the Meta information into the system. The type of the Meta data Search Engine is determined according to the customer's needs and its technological platforms. There are advanced systems are used by TV and radio stations and there simple but efficient systems that are MS Excel Based so anyone can install and use them at home.
Once the Meta data base is established we are ready to deliver the files and the tapes to the customer.
